The third and final part of the "Imaginary Places" emoji trilogy, Pleasureland is a translation of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio into emoji. Collodi's classic adventure novel has been translated into a text of over 40000 emojis using a style that incorporates a gallimaufry of techniques, including: picture-writing, wordplay, rebuses, visual metaphor, cryptograms, flattening, Kerouacian sketching and some conventional symbols from the Apple color emoji palette. The writing of Pleasureland has taken inspiration from the "Pleasure Island" sequence of Disney's Pinocchio, Bruegel's 1567 painting "The Land of Cockaigne" and the fantasy of a perfect life spent in the Land of Plenty.
